HAILSTONE SUPPRESSION METHOD BY LINEAR LIGHTNING INITIATING Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: clouds physics, active action for sedimentation. SUBSTANCE: method includes radar detection of cloud massif with electric field strength more then 100 kV/m and active action by artificial current conducting items introducing to cloud aggregation to initiate linear lightning. Positive effect, namely hailstone dimension diminishing, is achieved by drops in hail origin zone under strimmer area of lightning leader electrical field action with strength growing up to 300 - 500 kV/m when drops and ice forming crystals are coagulated. Lightning leader strimmer provides negative charge of aerosol particles capable to prevent ice seed charge forming. EFFECT: higher efficiency of hail forming process suppression. 1 dwg
