FIELD: motor vehicle industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automotive suspension systems. Selectively switchable two-mode suspension system comprises damper driven by pusher. Shock absorber is located between non-sprung mass and sprung mass of one corner of vehicle. Shock absorber comprises torsion with first preset stiffness K1 and spiral spring with second specified rigidity K2, series-connected to each other, providing total rigidity KT and locking drive. Locking drive is installed parallel to the spiral spring and is made with possibility of free movement of the spiral spring in the first mode and prevention of the spiral spring movement in the second mode. In the first, unlocked, locking drive mode, the suspension total stiffness is defined by equation 1/KT=1/K1+1/K2. In the second, locked, locking drive mode, the suspension stiffness is considerably higher and is defined by the equation KT=K1.
EFFECT: possibility of selective and switchable provision of low rigidity for optimum ride comfort and high rigidity for optimum controllability.
