FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing cyclohexanol, which is an intermediate product for synthesis of cyclohexanone, which is used in production of caprolactam. Method comprises converting a phenol-hydrogen vapor-gas mixture at high temperature and high pressure on a nickel-chrome catalyst, wherein the process is carried out in series in two reaction zones, wherein a nickel-chromium catalyst is used in the first reaction zone during the reaction cycle with an additive of inert components in the weight ratio of the nickel-chromium catalyst : an inert component of (60–70):(40–30), and in the second reaction zone only nickel-chromium catalyst is used in amount of 130–140 % with respect to amount of nickel-chromium catalyst used in the first reaction zone.
EFFECT: disclosed method enables accurate and rapid control of heat generation during reaction, with elimination of condensation of crude vapor-gas mixture on catalyst surface.
