FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing cyclohexanone by dehydrogenation of cyclohexanol in the presence of a catalyst containing zinc oxide, at high temperature by passing cyclohexanol vapors through a tube space containing a catalyst and heated by flue gases obtained during combustion of natural gas in air flow. Catalyst of the following composition (wt. %) is used: copper (II) oxide 23–33, zinc oxide 23–33, manganese (II) oxide 0.6–1.5, aluminium oxide is the rest, the process is carried out in the temperature range of 220–270 °C, air supplied for combustion is preheated by heat of exhaust steam-gas stream of reaction products, flue gases are fed in countercurrent to cyclohexanol, and the catalyst used in the process is fractionated to obtain two fractions of particles: fine particle size fractions ~5 mm, which is located at the beginning of the pipe space, counting along the direction of movement of the vapour-gas flow of the reagent and reaction products, and fractions of coarse particles with particle size ~10 mm, which is located in the tube space after the fraction of fine particles, counting along the direction of movement of the steam-gas flow of reagents and reaction products.
EFFECT: disclosed method enables to significantly reduce power consumption while achieving high conversion of cyclohexanol and output of the end product - cyclohexanone.
