FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to laboratory installations. Installation for investigation of sedimentation of solid particles contained in exhaust gases of cars, in an electric field, comprises a tested electrostatic precipitator communicating with a reaction chamber in which particles deposited by the electrostatic precipitator are burnt in an oxygen medium. Exhaust gases are fed from the internal combustion engine. Between reaction chamber and the electrostatic precipitator there is an impeller, which serves to prevent communication of the gas medium of the reaction chamber with the external medium. In the reaction chamber there is an inlet branch pipe for supplying oxygen and methane burners, as well as an outlet branch pipe for removal of combustion products, in which there is a check valve and a gas analyser connected to a computer and measuring content of CO2 in combustion products. When using the apparatus, the mass of solid carbon particles deposited by the tested electrostatic precipitator during the exhaust gases passing through it is determined, which enables to give a comparative assessment of devices used to reduce emissions of solid particles of exhaust gases into atmosphere by deposition in an electric field.
EFFECT: invention is intended for experimental determination of efficiency of sedimentation of solid particles contained in automobile exhaust gases using electrostatic precipitators.
