FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical treatment of cellulose, particularly to methods of producing nanocrystalline cellulose in the form of a hydrosol. Method involves catalytic solvolysis of microcrystalline cellulose, extraction and purification of the end product. Catalytic solvolysis of cellulose material is carried out in an acetic acid medium containing copper (II) ions with addition of hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizing agent, wherein the amount of copper (II) is 1–6 % of mole in terms of anhydroglucose unit.
EFFECT: invention widens the range of methods for producing sedimentation-resistant hydrosol with high crystallinity index.
