FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a multilayer coating which comprises: a first base coat layer applied on at least a portion of the substrate and a second base coat layer applied over the first base coat layer. First base coating layer and the second base coating layer are formed from compositions including polyhydrazide and core-shell particles dispersed in an aqueous medium. Core-shell particles of the first base coating composition include (1) a polymer core at least partially encapsulated (2) by a polymer shell, including urea fragments, and keto- and/or aldehyde functional groups. Each polymer nucleus of nucleus-shell particles of the first base coating composition and the second base coating composition is independently covalently bonded to at least part of the core-shell particle shell. Described also is a method of depositing multilayer coating on a substrate.
EFFECT: providing a multilayer coating with the possibility of forming dehydration/hardening at a lower temperature compared to the temperature normally required for other coatings normally applied on automotive substrates; eliminating solvent migration between layers and need for primer-putty; reduced costs and quantity of equipment for application of coating and acceleration of the whole coating process.
