FIELD: heat insulation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a water-based coating composition for structural surface heat insulation. Coating composition contains 60 to 80 vol % hollow microspheres, in range from 1 to 30 wt % dispersed acrylic binder polymer in range of 0.1 to 3 wt % of thickener in range from 50 to 80 wt % water and in range from 0.05 to 5 wt % additives selected from a group, comprising biocides, anti-foaming agents, surfactants, dispersants and combinations of two or more thereof, wherein the coating composition is substantially free of non-porous mineral and metal fillers and substantially free of hydraulic binders and wherein the coating composition has a density less than 500 kg/m3. Invention also relates to a method of applying such a coating composition by using a notched trowel for applying a finned coating layer and a glass fiber nonwoven sheet for smoothing such a layer; and to a set of parts comprising such a coating composition, a glass fiber non-woven sheet and a notched trowel.
EFFECT: invention improves heat-insulating properties of the composition, which can be applied in the form of one layer of sufficient uniform thickness, which does not crack.
