FIELD: printing machines.
SUBSTANCE: method includes: a) providing a continuously moving transmission element having an image forming surface, b) coating the image surface of the transmission element with separate particles made from or coated with the thermoplastic polymer, c) removing substantially all particles that are not in direct contact with the imaging surface in order to leave on the imaging surface a homogeneous monolayer coating of particles, d) exposing selected areas of the coated image forming surface to radiation of sufficient power to impart particles on selected areas of tackiness, e) pressing the coated image forming surface and the substrate surface to each other during or after irradiation to transfer to the substrate surface only those coating areas from particles which have been tackified, wherein the adhesive portions form a film, and f) repeating steps b) and c) for applying a new monolayer coating of particles on selected areas from which the previously applied monolayer coating has been transferred to the substrate surface at step e), in order to again ensure uniform coating of the image forming surface with a monolayer of particles.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method and a device for coating selected areas of a substrate surface with a film.
