SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ultrasonic diagnostics, and can be used for prediction of embolization of cerebral vessels during carotid artery stenting. Ultrasonic examination of fragments of plaques of the internal carotid artery is carried out. Additionally, sex, presence of symptomatic stenosis, previous operations on coronary and / or carotid arteries are determined. Ultrasonic examination of fragments of plaques of the internal carotid artery is performed on the side of intervention in the area of maximum narrowing of the artery lumen in B-mode using a linear sensor with radiation frequency of 11 MHz immediately before the operation. If females, symptomatic stenosis, operations on coronary and / or carotid arteries in past medical history, as well as ultrasonic signal intensity less than 20 dB, cerebral embolization is predicted with high probability after carotid artery stenting.

EFFECT: method provides enlarging the range of technical means for predicting cerebral embolization in carotid artery stenting by creating an algorithm of factors determining a risk of postoperative embolic brain injuries following carotid artery stenting.
