FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to neurology, and can be used to predict the state of patient's cognitive functions after stenting an internal carotid artery. Neuropsychological state of the patient is evaluated before the operation. Age, presence or absence of contralateral internal carotid artery occlusion, presence or absence of symptomatic stenosis and past diabetes mellitus in past 6 months are determined. If age is 65 years old or less, the absence of the contralateral internal carotid artery occlusion, as well as symptomatic stenosis for last 6 months and diabetes mellitus in the past medical history, the patient's cognitive function improvement in the distant long-term period is predicted with the forecast horizon of 2 years after carotid stenting. If the age is older than 65 years, the presence of occlusion of the contralateral internal carotid artery, as well as symptomatic stenosis within last 6 months and diabetes mellitus in history, the absence of improvement of cognitive function of the patient is predicted, that is absence of changes of cognitive functioning in remote long-term period with horizon of forecasting of 2 years.
EFFECT: method enables predicting the state of cognitive function in the distant long-term period with 2-year prediction horizon after stenting the internal carotid artery.
