FIELD: radar ranging.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar systems for preventing collision of a vehicle and is intended to improve the safety of movement of a vehicle. Proposed method comprises creation of continuous radio-wave radiation with saw-tooth frequency modulation, reception of reflected signal, selection of beats. To increase vehicle safety, the operating range is divided into several subranges by selecting, for each subrange, a corresponding frequency change rate of the emitted signal. In each subrange, beat signals are sequentially converted into digital data, the information of which is transferred to the frequency domain by fast Fourier transform. Results of analyzing data in the frequency domain determine an obstacle, distance to it, and speed.
EFFECT: distance is compared with calculated threshold values, at violation of which corresponding warning signals are switched on.
