SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. Described is a group of inventions comprising an aptamer binding GDF11, a method of detecting GDF11 in a sample, involving contacting proteins from a sample with said aptamer, and a composition for determining GDF11, comprising said aptamer and proteins from the sample. In one embodiment, the aptamer contains sequence 5'-RWnMCnCPPGMmMPPPAnACnMCmRWnPPGnPASnGC-3' (SEQ ID NO: 110) or 5'-RWnMCnCPPGMmMPPPAnACnMCmRWnPPGnPASnGS-3' (SEQ ID NO: 151) and binds GDF11 with affinity of less than 10 nM.
EFFECT: invention extends the range of products relating to GDF11.
