FIELD: rail transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport and can be used to determine parameters of rail repair profile during its polishing to restore rails rolling surface. Method involves measurement of parameters by means of movement along the track of sensors for measuring vertical and lateral wear on each track of the track and a receiving-transmitting device of the GLONASS system, wherein parameters of repair cross-section of rail head and program of its formation are determined not only from measured values of vertical and lateral wear of rail head, but also taking into account the spatial position of the rail in the path, the radius of the curve, the operating time of the missed tonnage on each section of the track, wherein the wear is measured relative to the new rail profile.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of determination of repair cross-section of rail head, which reduces volume of removed metal during repair grinding of rails.
