FIELD: construction, road engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to railway transport, namely to method for polishing of rails and may be used to recover rolling surface of rail heads laid into railway track. Polishing of rails is carried out simultaneously by two rail-polishing trains following each other. Trains use programs, which provide for the most favorable contact of rail head with wheels of rolling stock traveling in the area. In process of initial pass, the first rail-polishing train along the motion polishes according to the program of rail head working and non-working face side radiuses formation, and the second rail-polishing train polishes according to the program of transition zones formation from side radiuses of working and non-working faces of rail head to rolling surface. In process of return pass, the first rail-polishing train along the motion polishes according to the program of rail head rolling surface formation, and the second rail-polishing train performs final polishing according to program of rail head rolling surface and transition zones formation from rolling surface of rail head to side radiuses of working and non-working faces of rail.

EFFECT: reduced required number of "breaks", increased throughput capacity of railway roads, cancellation of warnings.
