SUBSTANCE: invention refers to dentistry and can be used for treating chronic periodontitis. What is presented is a method for treating periodontitis using a paste based on a biologically active additive "Yagel". Paste is prepared by simple mixing of components with the following composition, in wt%: "Yagel" biologically active additive, dry residue – 10–11; zinc oxide – 59–60; oil solution of vitamin "A" – 29–30. Pasta is introduced into the pathological periodontal pocket daily or every second day. Daily procedure includes no more than one paste application, the therapeutic course makes 7–10 procedures, and for its prevention it is repeated 3-4 times a year with interval of 2–3 months under indications.

EFFECT: use of the method provides effective treatment of chronic localized and generalized periodontitis, provides secondary prevention of complications of pathological processes in periodontium tissues due to antibiotic properties of therapeutic paste produced based on dietary supplements "Yagel".
