FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in water purification for removal of manganese and iron ions from natural waters with initial content of manganese, which does not exceed 20 TLV. Water treatment process consists of two stages. At the first stage laminar water movement is performed from below upwards at the rate of not more than 9 centimeters per minute through reservoir of dielectric in constant electric field with continuous removal of bubbles of released gases in upper part of capacity at gradient of potential at inert cathode and anode in range from 7 V/cm up to 10 V/cm. Inert electrodes are located in the lower half of the container: the anode at the bottom, and the cathode, on which the manganese and iron are retained – at the top at distance of 2 cm from the anode, and the purified water is directed to the consumer. At the second stage water movement is stopped in the same vessel, then poles are changed on electrodes for not more than two minutes, after which electrodes are switched off for the period of up to 10 minutes. During this period, precipitate removed from the cathode in the form of flakes of light gray color settles on a filtering partition located in the lower part, and the filtered water is also directed to the consumer.
EFFECT: disclosed invention provides purification of natural surface and underground water from manganese and iron ions to requirements of standards for drinking water.
