SUBSTANCE: invention relates to petrochemistry, specifically to methods of producing ethylene by pyrolysis of hydrocarbon material, particularly during preparation of pyrolysis products for further processing. Method of purifying pyrogas is carried out by direct contact with circulating quenching oil in a primary fractionation column, wherein a circulating system of the quenching oil is added with a butyl-benzene fraction in amount of 0.2–0.3 wt% from pyrolysis material.

EFFECT: improvement of pyro-gas purification process performance reduction process of coax and black particles coarsening due to dissolution of mica compounds in hardening oil, reduced formation of deposits in apparatus and pipelines and, accordingly, reduced consumption of fresh hardening oil, as well as its losses using production wastes.
