FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of providing a liquid residue for the ammoxidation process stream. Method comprises contacting reactor effluent containing unreacted ammonia from ammoxidation process reactor, with sulfuric acid and water in the quenching column; supplying process stream, which contains water and heavy organic impurities, from the distillation column to the evaporation plant containing one or more evaporation stages; separation of water and heavy organic impurities in an evaporative plant to produce an aqueous condensate and a liquid residue and contacting a liquid residue with outlet flow of reactor in hardening column to obtain bottom stream of hardening column containing ammonium sulphate and polymer. Bottom stream of the quenching column contains from 10 to 25 wt. % of ammonium sulphate and less than 5 wt. % of the polymer.
EFFECT: disclosed method is cost-effective and efficient, and also reduces amount of contaminants.
