FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. Disclosed is a method of producing L-methionine. Method involves preparing a mixture containing dimethyl disulphide, a catalytic amount of a thiol group-containing amino acid or peptide with a thiol group, a catalytic amount of reductase, hydrogen, a catalytic amount of dehydrogenase, a catalytic amount of cofactor, an enzymatic reaction for producing methyl mercaptan, introduction of a precursor of L-methionine to react with methylmercaptan and extraction of L-methionine.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain L-methionine with reduced equipment required for this and with avoiding manipulations with methylmercaptan.
