FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to corrosion-resistant aluminum alloys with high content of magnesium, in particular to continuous cast strip from Al-Mg alloy containing 6.1–10 wt. % of Mg, having both resistance to stress corrosion cracking, and to intercrystalline corrosion, wherein the ASTM G67-86 alloy weight loss is less than 25 mg/cm2. Article made from said strip can be a sheet or plate and can be part of vehicle or marine vehicle. Method of producing strip includes continuous casting of Al-Mg alloy containing from 6.1 to 10 wt. % of Mg, hot rolling to thickness less than 6.35 mm, annealing in furnace, including heating to temperature T1 in range from 365 °C to 500 °C for at least 2 hours and cooling from temperature T1 to temperature T2 with cooling rate not higher than 100 °C per hour, wherein temperature T2 is at least 25 °C below temperature T1, and cooling from temperature T2 to temperature T3, wherein temperature T3 is at least 100 °C below temperature T2.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at increasing of articles resistance to inter-crystalline corrosion and corrosion cracking.
