FIELD: automotive industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing a strip or sheet of aluminum alloy and can be used in the automotive industry. Method for producing a strip of aluminum alloy includes casting a rectangular billet of an alloy comprising, wt. %: 3.6 ≤ Mg ≤ 6 %, Si ≤ 0.4 %, Fe ≤ 0.5 %, Cu ≤ 0.15 %, 0.1 % ≤ Mn ≤ 0.4 %, Cr < 0.05 %, Zn ≤ 0.20 %, Ti ≤ 0.20 %, balance – aluminum and inevitable impurities, each taken not more than 0.05 %, and in the total – not more than 0.15 %, homogenizing at a temperature of 480 to 550 °C for at least 0.5 h, hot rolling at a temperature of 280 to 500 °C to produce a hot rolled strip, cold rolling at a reduction rate of 10 to 45 % before the last intermediate annealing, at least final intermediate annealing of the cold-rolled strip at a temperature of 300 to 500 °C so that the cold-rolled strip of aluminum alloy acquires a recrystallized structure after intermediate annealing, cold rolling a strip of aluminum alloy with a reduction rate of 30 to 60 % and reversible annealing in a roll with a final thickness, wherein the metal temperature being 190–250 °C for at least 0.5 hour.

EFFECT: invention is aimed at producing a strip that is easily processed into shaped parts for automobile components, in particular for unpainted body components, and providing additional weight reduction.
