SUBSTANCE: invention relates to external housing (28) of compressor of axial turbomachine. Housing (28) comprises sealing device (34) acting together with row of rotor blades (24). Housing (28) comprises wall (30) with annular groove (38), in which there is sealing device (34). This sealing device contains segmented outer band (36) and several piezoelectric drives (46) moving band (36) in radial direction in groove (38) so that to open or close functional gap. Invention also proposes a method of controlling sealing device (34) for a turbojet engine, wherein the method includes a step for measuring the altitude coordinate and a step for adjusting the gap in accordance with said altitude coordinate.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of an axial turbomachine equipped with a sealing device, and an increase in the number of configurations to which the sealing device can adapt.
