FIELD: ice-technology.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed method of determining ice strength under natural conditions relates to ice science and ice-equipment. Disclosed method of determining strength of ice in natural conditions is to determine local strength of ice in wells and strength of ice samples, wherein ice strength in wells and on samples is determined in close proximity to each other, and ice samples are taken from ice block, cut on the entire thickness of ice cover and at levels coinciding with performance of tests in natural conditions in wells.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of ice strength measurement accuracy and is achieved by performing statistically significant amount of measurements of ice strength in natural conditions in wells (local strength) and determination of strength of limited number of samples prepared of ice cut at testing place.
