FIELD: ice-technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ice science and ice-technical equipment and is a method of determining strength of ice in ice hummocks and shtamuhs, distributed both over thickness and area of ice formations. Essence: determining dimensions of sail, consolidated layer and keel by means of thermal drilling with water or electric drilling tools by specified profile grid. Determination of ice strength at introduction of indenter with hydraulic cylinder to wall of well on one side and restriction of movement from opposite side from indenter due to support plate. Wells for measurements of sail sizes, consolidated layer and keel of ice formations and wells are drilled serially coaxially to determine strength characteristics. Characteristics of strength in sail and keel are determined at installation of indentor probe in the form of a cylinder segment on the hydraulic cylinder, by dimensions coinciding with dimensions of support plate, and tests are performed with well wall loading in both directions.

EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of measuring strength of ice over thickness and area of natural ice formations.
