SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to agriculture. Agricultural-active composition, useful as a nitrification inhibitor, contains a substantially solid core, where said core has outer surface; a plurality of encapsulated particles located around the outer surface of the core, where said particles include at least one nitrification inhibitor; and hygroscopic particles arranged around the plurality of encapsulated particles, where the core is at least one fertilizer selected from the group consisting of: nitrogen-based fertilizer, potassium-based fertilizer, phosphorus-based fertilizer, zinc-containing microfertilizer, copper-containing microfertilizer, boron-containing microfertilizer, iron-containing microfertilizer, manganese-containing microfertilizer, sulphur-containing microfertilizer and mixtures thereof. Method for producing an agricultural-active composition. Agriculturally active composition is useful as a nitrification inhibitor.

EFFECT: invention enables controlled release of a nitrification inhibitor and nitrogen fertilizer, increases efficiency of nitrogen fertilizer and reduces contamination of soil, water and air by reducing nitrification.
