FIELD: biochemistry.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a microorganism of the genus Saccharomyces, having the ability to produce lactic acid in comparison with an unmodified microorganism, and to a method of producing lactic acid using it. Microorganism of Saccharomyces genus is modified so that pyruvate decarboxylase (PDC) activity is inactivated in comparison with its endogenous activity, ATP-citrate lyase (ACL) activity is introduced, and pyruvate biosynthesis path is intensified compared to endogenous biosynthesis. Method of producing lactic acid involves culturing said microorganism of the genus Saccharomyces in a medium and recovering lactic acid from the cultured microorganism or from the medium.

EFFECT: group of inventions increases the amount of lactic acid produced.
