FIELD: hygiene.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to an oral care composition containing an anaesthetic of local action, and methods of using such a composition. Disclosed is an oral care composition containing an anaesthetic local agent, a film forming polymer and a non-aqueous carrier medium containing 40–50 wt. % of Vaseline and 5.0–10 wt. % of mineral oil in terms of total weight of the composition. Film-forming polymer contains a mixed sodium and calcium salt of a copolymer of methyl vinyl ether with maleic anhydride in amount of 2.0–3.0 wt. % with respect to the total weight of the oral care composition. Also presented is the use of such a composition for alleviating pain or irritation in the oral cavity of a mammal, as well as a method of relieving pain or irritation in the oral cavity of a mammal, involving applying said composition to the surface in the oral cavity.
EFFECT: use of group of inventions provides both improved adhesion of product and improved efficiency of product relative to comparative composition containing plastic gel instead of combination of Vaseline, mineral oil and said copolymer.
