SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to pharmaceutics, specifically to a method of producing an aqueous composition sterilized by heating and containing solubilised chitosan and glycerol, where said composition is a transparent and viscous solution with pH from 6 to 7,5, wherein said method includes the following steps: (i) solubilising chitosan with average molecular weight of 10 to 250 kDa and degree of deacetylation greater than 60 % in an aqueous solution of a weak acid having a carboxyl group, wherein molar ratio of carboxyl group (-COOH) of said weak acid to amino group (-NH₂) of said chitosan ranges from 1:0.9 to 1:1.1; (ii) adding glycerol; (iii) bringing pH to 6–7,5 by adding an aqueous solution of a weak base; and (iv) steam sterilization. Invention also relates to pharmaceutical aqueous compositions of sterilized chitosan.

EFFECT: group of inventions enables to obtain transparent viscous compositions with pH of 6-7,5 without formation of aggregates or precipitate.
