FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: present invention refers to medicine, namely to an ophthalmic gel, which is applied in the form of drops containing 1) bimatoprost in amount of 0.003–0.03 % by weight, 2a) polyacrylate in amount >0.2 wt. %, 2b) povidone, dextran, polyethylene glycol, carboxymethyl cellulose or poly(vinyl alcohol) in amount of 0.2 to 10.0 wt. %, 3) an isotonising agent in an amount to obtain osmolality of 200 to 400 mOsmol/kg, 4) salt for modifying viscosity in amount of 0.05 to 0.4 % by weight, 5) base in amount to adjust pH from 6 to 8, 6) fillers commonly used in ophthalmic gels, and 7) water, and having viscosity in range from 200 to 2000 MPa⋅s, measured by means of Brookfield RVDV-II viscometer at 25 °C.
EFFECT: present invention provides a stable ophthalmic gel of bimatoprost, which is applied in the form of eye drops, providing the possibility of prolonged retention in the eye to improve their potential efficiency and local tolerance, and to minimize secondary effects compared to the prior art.
