SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. Described is a group of inventions comprising a compound which is a miR-29 mimetic, a miR-29 modulating pharmaceutical composition containing said compound, a method of regulating an extracellular matrix gene in a cell, comprising bringing the cell into contact with said compound, method for treating or preventing tissue fibrosis in a subject in need thereof comprising administering to said subject a compound or pharmaceutical composition, a method of assessing the effectiveness of treating a compound, including determining the level of expression of one or more genes in cells or fibrous tissue of a subject prior to treatment with a compound.
EFFECT: invention extends the range of agents, which are miR-29 mimetics.
