FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control and measurement equipment used in calibration, verification and current control of metrological characteristics of volume meters and mass of liquids of calibration installations, mainly oil and oil products. Method for monitoring of metrological characteristics of flow counter of amount of liquid using bidirectional prover, based on comparison of liquid quantity measured by verified fluid counter with amount of liquid flowing through calibrated section of prover, accepted as reference volume unit, during passage of calibrated section with ball piston, includes multiple movement of the ball piston in the forward and backward direction with the calibration liquid flow along the prover measuring pipeline, connected in series to the measuring line, in which the verified fluid counter is installed, with fixation at each movement of moment of passage of ball piston of beginning and end of calibrated section of route using detectors installed in boundary sections of calibrated volume, wherein the first section of the movement of the ball piston in each of the directions is acceleration and is required for the movement of the ball piston is set at a speed close to the free flow rate at a given flow rate of the testing liquid, wherein the section of the prover located at the current stroke of the ball piston and accelerating in the opposite motion of the ball piston is used at this stroke as an addition of the calibrated section. Also described is a bidirectional prover to implement said method.

EFFECT: high accuracy and reliability of measurement results, reduced dimensions, weight and material consumption of the structure, shorter duration of verification works, reduced costs for construction and equipment of oil metering units, provision of mobility of the structure.
