FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mobile communications. Mobile patient monitoring device (10) comprises radio system (14) having a threshold value for scanning and a threshold value for a transition which is lower than the threshold value for scanning or is equal to it. Radio system is configured to: scan to identify available access points when power of current access point is lower than threshold value for scanning, but above threshold for transition; and transition to available access point, when capacity of current access point is below threshold value for transition. Three-dimensional accelerometer (12) is configured to measure acceleration. Electronic components (16) of the device comprise at least one processor (24, 28) programmed to: receive data on vital signs from at least one corresponding physiological sensor (32); classifying patient's movement based on acceleration measured by 3D accelerometer; and assigning threshold values for radio system scanning and transition based at least on the basis of patient motion classification.

EFFECT: technical result consists in ensuring continuity of connection of medical monitoring device with network through access point.
