FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: system and implemented in it the user’s lower extremity movements monitoring method, including placement of the system relative to the target areas of the ultra-wideband (UWB) radar coverage area in accordance with the user indication, scanning, using the UWB radar, signals with different amplification in different directions of target zones of viewing space with at least two users located in them, recording signals reflected from each of said at least two users, and, based on the recorded signals for each of the users, collecting data on respiration, movements of lower extremities and movements of the whole body, recognition of single movement events of lower extremities (LM) using a pre-trained lower limb movement classifier, detection and assessment of sleep stages using a pre-trained sleep classifier, grouping of LM events in a sequence of periodic movements of lower extremities (PLM), excluding from grouped PLM movements of lower extremities associated with stages of wakefulness, apnoea or caused by movement of the whole body, obtaining sequences of periodic movements of extremities during sleep (PLMS), calculating a periodic lower extremities movement index (PLMI) and assessing the quality of sleep.

EFFECT: invention provides simultaneous assessment of sleep quality of two users sleeping on one bed, as well as possibility to assess other vital signs – heart rate, respiratory rate, stress level.
