SUBSTANCE: invention refers to pharmaceutical industry and represents pessary for use in treating vulvovaginal atrophy, comprising: a liquid pharmaceutical composition comprising an oestradiol and/or oestradiol hemihydrate, wherein total concentration of oestradiol and oestradiol hemihydrate in said pessary is equivalent to concentration of oestradiol in range of 1–25 mcg, where 1 mcg of oestradiol is equivalent to 1.03 mcg of oestradiol hemihydrate; and a diluting agent, which is medium chain fat; where the liquid pharmaceutical composition is encapsulated in a capsule; and where the treatment implies reducing the vaginal pH in the patient and/or involves changing the cell composition in the patient, where change in the composition of cells implies a decrease in the number of vaginal parabasal cells or an increase in the number of vaginal surface cells.

EFFECT: invention provides ease of vaginal administration, improved safety when introduced, minimum amount of vaginal discharge after administration and more effective dosage form providing improved effectiveness in treating vulvovaginal atrophy, safety and adherence of patients to treatment.
