FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mass-spectrometry. Device of modified harmonized multi-electrode Kingdon ion trap in mass spectrometer, which is used for accumulation and detection of ions in order to determine their weight to charge ratio. Trap feature is that it contains thin wires of uniform diameter instead of electrodes of complex shape determined by solution of Laplace’s equation for infinitely thin wires, and field distortions caused by wire diameter extremity are corrected by changing the shape of external electrodes, and correction is determined using an optimization procedure.

EFFECT: simple design of the ion trap and low weight of the trap.
