FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention describes a device of a dynamically harmonized open-type ion trap, which is directly incorporated into a housing of a vacuum chamber of a Fourier transform ion-cyclotron resonance mass analyser. Ion trap in ion-cyclotron resonance (ICR) mass analyser has shape of open cylinder without end walls, conducting surface of which is divided by slots into two central systems of electrodes and two side electrodes. Trap has a plane of symmetry perpendicular to the axis of the open cylinder and passing through the centre of the trap; first central system of electrodes consists of even number of curvilinear overlapping biangles, excluding areas of overlapping, wherein only adjacent biangles of said system are overlapped, and second central system of electrodes consists of areas of said overlapping. In the biangles of both central systems, the width of each biangle is a quadratic function of the coordinate directed along the axis of the open cylinder to the centre of the trap, with the origin beginning from the vertices of the angles of the biangle, wherein the maximum widths of the electrodes correspond to the centre of the trap.
EFFECT: technical result is high resolution of mass spectrometer, improved operational characteristics of device, high efficiency of creating vacuum inside trap.
