FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to polyethylene compositions and to a pipe made therefrom. Described is a cross-linked copolymer of ethylene and alpha-olefin obtained with metallocene catalyst. Copolymer has a high-molecular weight (HM) component and a low-molecular weight (LM) component, in which there is a HM component in amount of 10–30 wt. % and LM component in amount of 70–90 wt. %. Copolymer when tested in compliance with ASTM D1238 under force of 21.6 kg has a melt index at increased shear stress of 6–25 g/10 min. In the copolymer there are gels in amount of less than 3229 gels/m2, wherein the gels are in form of discrete particles having a size greater than 200 mcm.

EFFECT: technical result is improved polymer compositions exhibiting improved process characteristics without adverse effect of excess gels for production of pipes.
