FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to controlling dual metallocene catalyst olefin polymerizations with an alcohol compound. Method for controlling a polymerization reaction in a polymerization reactor system is provided. Dual system contacts with an olefin monomer and an optional olefin comonomer with introducing an amount of an alcohol compound. As a result, 1) a melt index parameter of the olefin polymer is reduced, 2) a molecular weight parameter of the olefin polymer selected from Mw, Mz, or both is increased or 3) a melt index parameter of the olefin polymer is reduced and a molecular weight parameter of the olefin polymer selected from Mw, Mz is increased. Process for producing an olefin polymer with target parameters is also described.

EFFECT: regulating or controlling properties of polymers which do not require changes in the catalyst composition or the polymerization conditions.
