FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 1-(2,7-dimethyl-2,7-octadien-1-yl)benzimidazole and can be used in chemical industry. Said method of producing 1-(2,7-dimethyl-2,7-octadiene-1-yl)benzimidazole from isoprene involves allylation of benzimidazole, characterized in that isoprene is reacted with dialkylamine, such as dimethylamine, diethylamine, piperidine, morpholine, catalyzed by Pd(acac)2 – Ph3P in a THF solution, followed by quaternization of obtained N-(2,7-dimethyl-2,7-octadien-1-yl)dialkylamine with action of ethyl- or methyl iodide with formation of corresponding N-(2,7-dimethyl-2,7-octadien-1-yl)trialkylammonium iodide, which reacts to benzimidazole in the presence of K3PO4 and palladium catalyst Pd(dba)2 DMSO solution yields target 1-(2,7-dimethyl-2,7-octadien-1-yl)benzimidazole.
EFFECT: novel efficient method of producing 1-(2,7-dimethyl-2,7-octadien-1-yl)benzimidazole with high output and purity from available material, which does not require use of toxic and explosive substances.
