SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for hybrid masking of loss of packets in frequency and time domain in audio codecs. Providing (910) first component (103, 807') of the error masking audio information for the first frequency band using masking (105, 704, 805, 910) in the frequency domain. Providing (920) second component (104, 512, 612, 811') of error masking audio information for a second frequency band, which contains lower frequencies than the first frequency range, using masking (106, 500, 600, 809, 920) in time domain. First component (103, 807) is combined (930') of error masking audio information and second component (104, 512, 612, 811') of the error concealment audio information to obtain error masking audio information.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of packet loss masking efficiency.
