FIELD: image processing means.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to image processing technologies and can be used in vision systems. Technical result is achieved by the fact that in the known method of forming a contour image, comprising formation of an input digital image of a real scene, selecting a contour composition, forming an output contour image, according to the invention, selecting a contour composition by forming a field having dimensions of the input image, filling it with counts of the input image, dividing the field into regions of a given size, in each region separating the central and peripheral zones, for each region forming a reading, the value of which is determined as the weighted sum of the brightness of the pixels of the central and peripheral zones, performing eight differently directed consecutive vertical and horizontal shifts of input image relative to field by value of linear size of central zone, at each shift for all areas of the field new readings are formed, for each region a matrix with size of 3×3, the resulting output contour image is obtained by merging the sampling arrays of all regions into a single array.

EFFECT: reduced sensitivity to noise due to reduced dimensionality of the formed image.
