FIELD: ecology.

SUBSTANCE: using means installed on the aerospace carrier, coastal areas containing reference areas in the ultraviolet and red regions of the solar spectrum are probed. The obtained images are referenced to coordinates using the GLONASS positioning system. A synthesized matrix of images from the pixel-to-pixel ratio of the ultraviolet image to the red one is formed. The contamination areas contours are selected by software calculation of the gradient of the synthesized image brightness function. The following parameters are calculated within the selected contour: the average value of the frequency of the image brightness function spatial spectrum, the fractal image, the relief area for the analyzed reference region and its corresponding reference area. Based on the received parameters, the identification parameter for the analyzed and the reference area corresponding to it is calculated. The difference in the identification parameters calculated for the analyzed and reference areas is determined. Taking into account the received data, the level of the sea surface pollution is estimated.
