FIELD: laser engineering.

SUBSTANCE: in a method for transverse pumping of a working medium of a laser, which involves transmission of radiation from diode pumping sources to a working medium of a laser using optical fibers tightly packed on an end section with formation of a radiating platform with size d×h, where d≤h, h is the size of the emitting area of the fibers on the radiation propagation axis of generation; d is the size of the emitting area of the fibers perpendicular to the axis of propagation of the generation radiation, and the forming optics, which creates laser pumping field at intersection of pumping beam and working medium of laser, which is located in space between forming optics and plane of actual image of radiating platform, wherein the far boundary of the working medium is aligned with this plane, the forming optics are made of two components. First of the components is an axially symmetric lens which generates an imaginary image of the emitting area, wherein the lens is placed at a minimum distance L from the emitting area, determining its focal distance as where θ is complete divergence of radiation at the output of optical fibers. Second component is installed in rear focal plane of first lens and its focal distance is determined as , where D is the pumping field size, which coincides with the working medium size along the generation radiation propagation axis, wherein at distance from the back focal plane of the second component of the forming optics, a real image of the emitting area is constructed, where is the distance from the emitting area to its imaginary image.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of dimensions of forming optics when creating high pumping intensity in laser medium.
