FIELD: weapons and ammunition.

SUBSTANCE: solution relates to production of porous powders used, in particular, for equipping sport and hunting shot cartridges for smooth-bore weapons. Spherical powder is characterized by that powder elements are hollow sphere with porous shell – burning arch, penetrated through channels. At that ratio of porous shell thickness/diameter makes 1/3–1/4 at diameter of powder elements of 0.2–1.25 mm.

EFFECT: technical result is high porosity and low bulk density of powder, as well as low dependence of ballistic characteristics on dimensions of powder elements, smaller mass of propellant charge and, consequently, low value of muzzle pressure.
