FIELD: physics; chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to physical and chemical methods of analysing metals for hardness and resistance to inter-crystalline corrosion. Method for investigation of strength and resistance to intergranular corrosion of metals in electrolytes, characterized in that the metal sample is cleaned, immersed in an electrolyte of room temperature, passing through the metal sample a constant electric current with density of up to 60 mA/mm2 duration of 30 minutes.
EFFECT: technical result is high hardness of up to 12–15 % and complete elimination of inter-crystalline corrosion of metals, thereby significantly increasing service life of articles made from aluminium and copper.
