FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medical equipment, namely to insertion tools for introducing a catheter or other tubular medical device into a patient's body. Input device for insertion of the catheter into the patient's body comprises a body in which at least a portion of the catheter is positioned; a needle distally extending from the body, wherein at least a portion of the catheter is pre-positioned above the needle; wire guide; wire guide extension assembly; and a catheter extension assembly. Wire guide extension assembly includes a first user interaction element configured to be actuated by a user's thumb or other finger for selective distal extension of the distal end of the guidewire from the distal hole of the needle in preparation for the catheter distal extension. Catheter extending assembly includes a second user interaction element configured to be actuated by a user's thumb or other finger for selective catheter extension in the distal direction, wherein the user can start extension of the second user element after extending the first interaction element with the user without changing position of the thumb or other finger, by means of which he extended the guide wire and the catheter. Guide wire extension assembly is configured to prevent the catheter extension to extend the distal extension of the guidewire. According to a second embodiment of the input device for insertion of the catheter into the patient's body, the catheter extension assembly includes a handle assembly. Handle assembly includes first and second wings. Between the first and second wings the cover section passes. Cover section is located so that the user can perform extension of the guidewire retraction assembly and the catheter extension assembly by one thumb and/or other finger. According to a third embodiment, an input device for insertion of a catheter into a patient's body comprises a blood supply indicator configured to indicate the presence of a fluid within the lumen of the needle. Blood supply indicator includes an elongated channel connected in fluid communication with the needle lumen. Channel forms a path through which the fluid medium passes in the needle lumen, wherein the user of the input device can see the fluid passing along the path. Channel is made in at least one of the body and the catheter extension assembly and is fluidly connected to the needle by an access point formed by a portion of the catheter extension assembly.
EFFECT: such design of devices simplifies operation and improves reliability and safety of devices.
