SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, in particular to sanitary-hygienic means, and concerns absorbing mats used in keeping animals and birds, as well as used for care of domestic animals. Bedding material is a self-contained zoohygienic, which is a bulk carpet made of wood chips of coniferous and/or hardwoods, having moisture from 3 to 20 % and not containing dust particles with size less than 1 mm and metal inclusions. Composition of the material includes a disinfectant having bactericidal, moisture- and gas-absorbing properties in amount of 3–10 % of the total volume of the litter material uniformly distributed throughout the bulk of the carpet. Litter material in the transport state represents a rectangular briquettes packed under polyethylene pressure under the pressure without using binding agents.

EFFECT: invention provides sanitary-hygienic requirements throughout the period of animals.
