SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, in particular, to methods for application of bedding used in keeping farm animals. Method for forming a loose bedding mat consists in loading bedding material into a spreading machine, which then, in the process of its movement along the rooms in which the animals are kept, uses a grinding-spreading device of a centrifugal type to grind the bedding material and spread it. At that, in the spreading machine the bedding material is loaded, which is a mechanical homogeneous mixture of different fractions of bedding material particles. Mechanical homogeneous mixture is divided into separate fractions in the grinding-spreading device. Each fraction is directed in a grinding-spreading device to different working elements, which provide different flight paths for particles of different fractions when scattering particles of the bedding material.

EFFECT: method enables to mechanize the process of forming a multilayer bedding mat.
