SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, in particular, to materials used in keeping farm animals. Bedding material is zoohygienic, is decontaminated ionizing radiation and dusted wood chips of coniferous and/or hardwood trees, having moisture of not more than 12 % and compressed in form of rectangular briquette without using binder and retained in a compressed state with the help of packaging polyethylene film. At that decontamination with ionizing radiation is carried out after pressing of wood chips and its packing into polyethylene film by uniform direction of gamma-quanta flow to briquette from two sides.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a sterile backdraft material which does not require additional treatment before use by any disinfectants, which does not form dust particles during use and does not contain toxic components.
